nce upon a time a king who had twelve daughters, each one more beautiful than the other. They all slept in the same room, and when they went to bed each night, the king locked and bolted their door. Every morning the princesses' shoes were found to be completely worn through, yet no one knew where they had been.

Hence, the king announced to all the land, that anyone who could find out how his daughters wore out their shoes at night could choose one the the princesses to be his wife, and should be the king's heir. Many young princes and noble men tried but none succeeded.

Should you put on these pretty pair of shoes, one day your prince charming will come to marry you.
